Good Afternoon Yinz Guys & Happy Monday. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to think of different post ideas that I could bring to my blog. One of my blogging goals for 2017 is to come up with a regular posting schedule, so I was thinking Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as my main posting days. But I also wanted to have different themed posts as well. That’s when “Hashtag Mondays” popped up in my head, literally I was showering yesterday and the idea of having a hashtagged themed monday dealing with things like Makeup, Motivation and Music. So as I was coming up with what my first post would be on, I was watching The Golden Globes and I got to see Donald Glover accept his Golden Globe award for his hit series ATLANTA under the category of Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
I have been a Donald Glover fan for FOREVER, and had the opportunity a few years ago to see him live in concert, in which he goes by the stage name Childish Gambino. I actually also got the chance to go backstage and hang out with him as well, which is something I will NEVER EVER forget. I still have my backstage pass, but like the complete goof ball I am, I didn’t ask to take a picture because I wanted to try and play it cool. On the outside I may have looked like it was no big deal, but the inside I was freaking out the whole night lol. Maybe one day I’ll talk about that experience…It was just amazing to sit down and talk to someone about everyday things like food, cartoons and music…but that’s a post for another day. So anyway as a fan I never truly felt like he got the respect that he truly deserved, rather as a actor, comedian or singer. And just like most of his fans we couldn’t wait to see ATLANTA and we weren’t disappointed. Even though the main inspiration for the show was drawn from Atlanta and the culture, mainly black culture from the city…it didn’t feel like it was foreign to me. It was such a relatable show for all Black Americans. But like most things that are geared towards us, it doesn’t always get the recognition it deserves, especially when it comes to award shows. So I was ecstatic when I saw that the show won.
Donald started with thanking FX, the cast and writers, friends and family then he went on to say “I really just want to thank Atlanta and all the black folks in Atlanta, like for real. Just for being amazing people. I couldn’t be here without Atlanta.”. After that he went on to thank rap group Migos, who not only appeared on the show but also hail from Atlanta…but that’s not why he thanked them, he thanked them for making probably one of last years best songs “Bad and Boujee”. Honestly I’m still in love with this song, I probably listen to it at least 3-5 times a day lol.
He also won for Best Actor in a Television Series,Comedy. His speech there was a little more personal where he thanked his father, son, and the mother of his son for helping him to believe in people again and that anything is possible.
So yeah, not only Am I happy to introduce a new theme to my blog, but I’m going to leave you with my first “Hashtag Monday” which is a #MotivationalMondays post brought to you by Donald Glover. I hope you enjoyed this little pick me up, and I hope it inspires you to keep pushing on through the week. Its week number two, and we still have a lot of 2017 left to make positive changes in our lives. This is my little effort in that change.
This upcoming Wednesday I will have a beauty review that will be posted. I’m also thinking about making Wednesdays my main days to post reviews, but we’ll see. I have a lot of changes coming this way, and again I want to thank you all for rocking with me. I would like to hear about some of things that keep you motivated on Mondays, so leave them in the comment section below. I hope yinz guys have a good rest of the day and rest of the week.
And as always…Peace Yinz Guys!
