Hey Yinz Guys…can you believe we’re already in our 5th month of 2018? Crazy right? I feel like this year is flying by. And now that it’s May and the sun has FINALLY decided to join us, it’s just a matter of weeks before I’m out here being Summertime Fine yall. So with that being said, I thought I would share my Summer 2018 Goals here. This is going to be a very adventurous summer for me, I’m going to be doing a lot of traveling and I will also be taking a lot of chances this summer as well when it comes to heading into a different career path. But first I should share some good news…I now work for ULTA Beauty as a Beauty Advisor. I shared the exciting news on my Instagram last month, I’m so excited for this opportunity because I know I’m even one step closer to going to school for my Esthetician License. Yes, you heard that right, I plan on going to school to gain my esthetician certificate than to test for my license so I can start my career as an Esthetician and hopefully work in a spa and just go from there. Hey Yinz Guys & Happy Friday! We made it through yet another work week…YAAAAASSSS!
This week was actually a short one for me being that I was on vacation for the beginning part of it, so this week flew by for me.
If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you may have seen me mentioning losing inspiration and desire to write due to lack of creativity and writer’s block. I’m still very much going through these same issues but I also know that if I don’t start blogging regardless of these feelings…I never will. So #FridayFavorites is my 1st attempt to getting myself out of this writer’s block rut. So the plan is on every Friday to share my favorites from that week. It can be a number of things, from beauty products, fashion items and music. I know a bunch of other bloggers do similar post, but here’s to me getting myself out of this “blah” feeling that I’m going through while also sharing things that I love…and I hope you find some things you may enjoy as well. SO LET’S GET RIGHT INTO IT!
•Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun and Be Your Own Person by: Shonda Rhimes
•Bust Magazine April/May 2017-Volume 104 with Solange on the cover
•Ebony Magazine March 2017 with Jurnee Smollett-Bell on the cover
•Time special edition dealing with Mindfulness The New Science of Health and Happiness
•Haribo Gold-Bears Gummi Candy(gummi bears) ~ I have been munching on these like crazy this past week. I’m sure I have went through like 4 bags already lol.
•Water ~ If you know me, you know that I’m not big on drinking water, especially when it comes to drinking it with a meal. But recently I’ve been trying to up my water intake for a bunch of reasons, but mainly because I always see a huge difference in my skin and hair when I’m drinking water regularly. So to help encourage with my intake, I got myself a cute new water bottle from Family Dollar for only $5…yup $5. It’s my favorite color and it fits right in my work bag without taking up too much space.
•”Destiny” Gold Frame Clear Lens glasses from Fashion Freak Necc Vintage(FFNV) ~ I posted a picture of me wearing these on my IG last week while in Philly, and since then I have gotten so many inquires about where I got them from. This is my 3rd pair from the locally, black, female owned business. The customer service is top notched, and they are mailed out right away in a box that keeps your glasses safe from any damage during shipping. I would definitely recommend her for all your fashion glasses and sunglasses needs.
•St. Anthony Alex & Ani bracelet ~ This past birthday in February I received my first few Alex & Ani bracelets, and I’ve been hooked ever since. You may not know this, but I attended catholic schools from kindergarten all the way till the 12th grade, so I am somewhat familiar with catholic patron saints and their meanings and stuff like that. But there has been one patron saint that has always stuck with me since I first learned about him in the 1st grade. And that is St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. It was explained to us in 1st grade that if you ever lost/misplaced something, you should pray to St. Anthony asking for help with finding said lost item. So whenever I lose something and I’m getting super frustrated, I take a second and pray to St. Anthony…and well all I’m going to say is I usually find what I’m looking for. So when I found out Alex & Ani had a St. Anthony bracelet I knew I had to have it. So I was super geeked when my mom surprised me with the bracelet last Thursday before I left for Philly.
•Forever Young by Jean Pierre sheet mask from 5 Below ~ Now I don’t know about you guys but I love skin care, especially when it’s affordable. I’m always an avid shopper of 5 Below, so I was excited to see that my local store carried a variety of different facial beauty products. One of them being these sheet mask that you can get 5 for $5.
•Pray for Better by Kanayo King ~ Rather I’m cleanin up around the house, at work, at the gym or just laying around in my room…I’m usually listening to music. The past couple of weeks I’ve been listening to like the same 5 songs on repeat. One of those songs are from up and coming Atlanta rapper Kanayo King. His single Pray for Better has made its way to all of my current playlists, like my playlist for the gym, the ride home and when I need some hype music at work to help me stay up lol. He also recently dropped the video for Pray for Better last month that you can check out here. He can be found on Soundcloud and iTunes as well. If you’re a Future or Migos fan I think you’ll enjoy Kanyo King as well.
•Hustle notebook from MyTaughtYou.com ~ If you’re not familiar with Myleik Teele founder of curlBox and just an all around awesome and inspiring person…then you need to get with it. If you’re a natural girl like I am, I’m sure you’re familiar with her monthly hair care subscription service called curlBox. But did you know she always has her own Podcast that can be found on PodOmatic and iTunes as well. If you’re familiar with her podcast then you’re more than likely familiar with her yearly journals/notebooks that she has been selling the past 3 years I believe. The notebooks can be used to jot down different ideas or dates. I like to use it to write down ideas for blogging topics as well rough drafts for my blog posts. What I like about the notebooks are that the first 10 or so pages are filled with tips and inspirations to achieve whatever goals you have set at the beginning of the year. So if you aren’t familiar with Myleik, I highly suggest you get familiar by checking her out here, here, here, and her podcast here. If you have periscope you can also check her out here.
•Audiology headphones I got from Half Price Bookstore for under $8 ~ They’re no Beats by Dre, but they get the job done when I’m in the gym, and you can’t beat the price.
•MacBook Air ~ I’ve had my MacBook Air for a few years now, and I’m still in love with it. Its light, and I can carry it with me everywhere without it weighing me or my bag down.
•iPhone 6s+ ~ I mean do I really need to explain lol
Well that’s it for this week. I hope you guys enjoyed this new installment on the blog. I’ll return next week with a new list of things I’m favoring for that week, so make sure you check back in. Also in the comment section below I would love to hear about your #FridayFavorites too. And like always, thank you so much for checking out my blog. I hope you have an awesome weekend.
Peace Yinz Guys!
Hey Yinz Guys & Happy Friday…YAY WE MADE IT! 2nd week in 2017 is down for the count, and so how are you all feeling? I hope you’re still sticking to your new year resolutions, and if you’ve fallen off…that’s ok, you can always pick back up where you left off at and start over. So for me one of my 2017 resolutions was to start reading for pleasure again. You may not know, but I’m what I like to call an on again/off again college student. I for the most part pay for my own schooling, and I attend CCAC which is the community college here in Pittsburgh, I didn’t attend last year due to some financial difficulties but I will be back in for the 2017 Fall Semester coming up. So for the most part, the last few books I have read have been for school.
