Hey Yinz Guys & Happy Friday…and if you’re one of the lucky ones Happy Pay Day too! And YESSSS I am MAD late posting this…but today was the start of my 4 day weekend and I totally got up really late and forgot to schedule this post. So anywho…I’m coming to you with my 2nd week of #FridayFavorites where I plug some of my favorite things from the week. I kept to 7 items this time lol, but I hope you still enjoy this post. So here we go…

Reading Material:

  • CRWN Magazine ~ A couple days ago I finally got my hand on CRWN Magazine Volume 01/Issue 01 with natural hair YouTube guru Naptural85(Whitney White) on the cover. And I am already in LOOOOVE with this magazine. I haven’t been able to actually sit down and get all into it, but the photos alone have already captured my heart. I can’t wait for the second issue.

Fashion Items:

  • H&M Poncho ~ I picked up this awesome poncho from Buffalo Exchange on the South Side back in February. Because Pittsburgh weather is unpredictable this piece is great for layering under both my heavy and lite jacket as well as wearing alone with it’s not super cold but not that hot either.
  • Easy Spirit Shoes ~ These shoes are great for my arthritic feet lol…you read all about them in a previous post I wrote here.

Hair Accessories:

  • Snappee Hair Ties ~ These hair ties make it extremely easy to put hair up in a high puff. I also haven’t had any issues with them pulling on my edges as well like I have experienced with other hair ties and scrunchies.

  • Aboni Cosmetics ~ The 1st time I came across this brand it was when it was shared on a beauty blogger I follow on IG page. She was wearing the color Frenchie and I just had to have it. I also purchased Kiss & Tell and Daydream as well. I can’t wait to try out all 3 of these colors. And when I do I’ll make sure to post them on my IG.

  • Humble by Kendrick Lamar ~ Does this really need an explanation?

  • Hey, Girl by Alex Elle ~ I am such a fan of Alex Elle, from when she used to create and sell her own jewelry to now a 3-time author to self-care expert and now Podcaster. I like to listen to her podcast Hey Girl when I’m taking pictures or writing for my blog because it’s just really calming and uplifting. I have been getting back into listening to podcast regularly again, and this is up there with my top 3 favorites.

Well, that’s it for this week. I hope you guys enjoyed this week’s favorites. I’ll return next week with a new list of things I’m favoring for that week, so make sure you check back in. You can also check out my favorites from last week here. Also in the comment section below, I would love to hear about your #FridayFavorites too. And like always, thank you so much for checking out my blog. I hope you have an awesome weekend.

Peace Yinz Guys

Hey Yinz Guys & Happy Friday! We made it through yet another work week…YAAAAASSSS!

This week was actually a short one for me being that I was on vacation for the beginning part of it, so this week flew by for me.

If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook you may have seen me mentioning losing inspiration and desire to write due to lack of creativity and writer’s block. I’m still very much going through these same issues but I also know that if I don’t start blogging regardless of these feelings…I never will. So #FridayFavorites is my 1st attempt to getting myself out of this writer’s block rut. So the plan is on every Friday to share my favorites from that week. It can be a number of things, from beauty products, fashion items and music. I know a bunch of other bloggers do similar post, but here’s to me getting myself out of this “blah” feeling that I’m going through while also sharing things that I love…and I hope you find some things you may enjoy as well. SO LET’S GET RIGHT INTO IT!

Reading Materials:

•Year of Yes: How to Dance It Out, Stand in the Sun and Be Your Own Person by: Shonda Rhimes

•Bust Magazine April/May 2017-Volume 104 with Solange on the cover

•Ebony Magazine March 2017 with Jurnee Smollett-Bell on the cover

•Time special edition dealing with Mindfulness The New Science of Health and Happiness

•Haribo Gold-Bears Gummi Candy(gummi bears) ~ I have been munching on these like crazy this past week. I’m sure I have went through like 4 bags already lol.

•Water ~ If you know me, you know that I’m not big on drinking water, especially when it comes to drinking it with a meal. But recently I’ve been trying to up my water intake for a bunch of reasons, but mainly because I always see a huge difference in my skin and hair when I’m drinking water regularly. So to help encourage with my intake, I got myself a cute new water bottle from Family Dollar for only $5…yup $5. It’s my favorite color and it fits right in my work bag without taking up too much space.

Fashion Items:

•”Destiny” Gold Frame Clear Lens glasses from Fashion Freak Necc Vintage(FFNV) ~ I posted a picture of me wearing these on my IG last week while in Philly, and since then I have gotten so many inquires about where I got them from. This is my 3rd pair from the locally, black, female owned business. The customer service is top notched, and they are mailed out right away in a box that keeps your glasses safe from any damage during shipping. I would definitely recommend her for all your fashion glasses and sunglasses needs.

•St. Anthony Alex & Ani bracelet ~ This past birthday in February I received my first few Alex & Ani bracelets, and I’ve been hooked ever since. You may not know this, but I attended catholic schools from kindergarten all the way till the 12th grade, so I am somewhat familiar with catholic patron saints and their meanings and stuff like that. But there has been one patron saint that has always stuck with me since I first learned about him in the 1st grade. And that is St. Anthony, the patron saint of lost things. It was explained to us in 1st grade that if you ever lost/misplaced something, you should pray to St. Anthony asking for help with finding said lost item. So whenever I lose something and I’m getting super frustrated, I take a second and pray to St. Anthony…and well all I’m going to say is I usually find what I’m looking for. So when I found out Alex & Ani had a St. Anthony bracelet I knew I had to have it. So I was super geeked when my mom surprised me with the bracelet last Thursday before I left for Philly.

Beauty Items:

•Forever Young by Jean Pierre sheet mask from 5 Below ~ Now I don’t know about you guys but I love skin care, especially when it’s affordable. I’m always an avid shopper of 5 Below, so I was excited to see that my local store carried a variety of different facial beauty products. One of them being these sheet mask that you can get 5 for $5.

•Pray for Better by Kanayo King ~ Rather I’m cleanin up around the house, at work, at the gym or just laying around in my room…I’m usually listening to music. The past couple of weeks I’ve been listening to like the same 5 songs on repeat. One of those songs are from up and coming Atlanta rapper Kanayo King. His single Pray for Better has made its way to all of my current playlists, like my playlist for the gym, the ride home and when I need some hype music at work to help me stay up lol. He also recently dropped the video for Pray for Better last month that you can check out here. He can be found on Soundcloud and iTunes as well. If you’re a Future or Migos fan I think you’ll enjoy Kanyo King as well.

•Hustle notebook from MyTaughtYou.com ~ If you’re not familiar with Myleik Teele founder of curlBox and just an all around awesome and inspiring person…then you need to get with it. If you’re a natural girl like I am, I’m sure you’re familiar with her monthly hair care subscription service called curlBox. But did you know she always has her own Podcast that can be found on PodOmatic and iTunes as well. If you’re familiar with her podcast then you’re more than likely familiar with her yearly journals/notebooks that she has been selling the past 3 years I believe. The notebooks can be used to jot down different ideas or dates. I like to use it to write down ideas for blogging topics as well rough drafts for my blog posts. What I like about the notebooks are that the first 10 or so pages are filled with tips and inspirations to achieve whatever goals you have set at the beginning of the year. So if you aren’t familiar with Myleik, I highly suggest you get familiar by checking her out here, here, here, and her podcast  here. If you have periscope you can also check her out here.

•Audiology headphones I got from Half Price Bookstore for under $8 ~ They’re no Beats by Dre, but they get the job done when I’m in the gym, and you can’t beat the price.

•MacBook Air ~ I’ve had my MacBook Air for a few years now, and I’m still in love with it. Its light, and I can carry it with me everywhere without it weighing me or my bag down.

•iPhone 6s+ ~ I mean do I really need to explain lol

Well that’s it for this week. I hope you guys enjoyed this new installment on the blog. I’ll return next week with a new list of things I’m favoring for that week, so make sure you check back in. Also in the comment section below I would love to hear about your #FridayFavorites too. And like always, thank you so much for checking out my blog. I hope you have an awesome weekend.

Peace Yinz Guys!

Intro To Hashtag Mondays/#MotivationalMondays…

Good Afternoon Yinz Guys & Happy Monday. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to think of different post ideas that I could bring to my blog. One of my blogging goals for 2017 is to come up with a regular posting schedule, so I was thinking Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as my main posting days. But I also wanted to have different themed posts as well. That’s when “Hashtag Mondays” popped up in my head, literally I was showering yesterday and the idea of having a hashtagged themed monday dealing with things like Makeup, Motivation and Music. So as I was coming up with what my first post would be on, I was watching The Golden Globes and I got to see Donald Glover accept his Golden Globe award for his hit series ATLANTA under the category of Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.

What It Takes To Be A Real One…

“These niggas don’t know, these niggas really don’t know…WHAT IT TAKES TO BE A REAL ONE!” I can’t help but keep repeating this in my head, as quoted by one of the greatest Hood Gospel Singers out right now Ty Dolla Sign aka Dolla Sign aka $ aka My #MCM each and every Monday lol…you’ve all probably seen my Instagram by now.

Right now I’m in my bedroom killing some time while I wait for tonight’s radio show to download so I can edit it, so I figured it be a great time to start working on my next blog post. I mean…I’ve been really good with posting on here the past few days so why stop now. But while I was thinking about what I wanted my next post to be about I couldn’t help but keep repeating the above lyrics in my head. The song in the 1st track on his latest mix tape called Sign Language. It’s called Intro/NDK…NDK standing for Nigga Don’t Know…and as I’m signing this song I can’t help but agree. These niggas really don’t know, like not at all…especially when it comes to being real. Now when I say real, I may not exactly have the same definition as Mr. Money Sign himself…but I think we can both agree that to be real you have to be real with yourself first before you can be real with anyone else.

Oh Hello…Again!

No real reason for the face...LOL

***I wrote this earlier today while on my way to work***

Since I haven’t blogged in a min…I guess it’s fitting that I hit you up with a few updates and some inspirational thoughts that I’ve been repeating to myself to keep me from going off the deep end. So where to start….
Lets see, well my 27th birthday came and went with not a lot of fan fare. My sis hooked me up and my best friend since grade school made reservations for us at this cute restaurant not to far from where I stay.

As for my love life…I tried rekindling an old flame already knowing that I should have stomped it out and smothered it instead. Everything happened just like I knew it would…I came…I fell hard…and I got shitted on…kicked out…ended up being very ratchet outside his apartment screaming his name…then forced to walk home in shame! LOL…now even though I’m super bummed about it…I only have myself to blame. I mean I know that he had his ways and I had mine, so I know that it wasn’t going to work…but the hopeless romantic in me told me to give it one more try.

And in between that…I thought I would try my hands at trying to “get to know” someone in another state(since me and said guy from here weren’t in a “committed relationship”)…well that didn’t work out either. I can’t stand a guy who is overly aggressive and overly sexual…just a huge turn off for me. So he ended that with a “Just pretend that I’m dead” and a “CLICK”…he was way to DRAMATIC for me at that point!

So now I’m here, siting on the bus on my way to work wondering how I can turn all this negativity into a positive before I sink more into depression…and well I’m not exactly sure how to do that yet.

But I do know there are a lot of changes I’m hoping to make during the summer, and I know that I want to move to a different state and I want to go back to school…I also want to fall back in love with writing and music. So with all these things I have lined up on my “To Do” list, maybe I should use all this negative energy as fuel to cross off everything on my list by the end of the summer!

I don’t know, but I do know writing this here on my iPhone feels really good…nothing like letting out your emotions for the public to read and scrutinize LOL!

Oh and here’s an inspirational/positive quote:
“Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most”

Cause I’ve Been Thinking Bout Forever…

I have been listening to Frank Ocean‘s “Thinking About You” on repeat for the last few days. The visual came out some time ago and I had been meaning to post it on here. A lot of people say that the video is strange…I happen to think it makes perfect sence. What do you think about the music video.

Also here’s a fun little fact, the song was actually written for a singer by the name of Bridget Kelly, you can find her version here! I personally like the Frank Ocean version, but I’m extremely excited to here that a vocalist like Bridget Kelly is in the studio recording for what I hope is to be an upcoming LP…how do you feel about her version?

How You Living C…Great News!!!

Hey Yinz Guys!!! It’s been a min since I’ve done a #HYLC update!

So much to blog about, I don’t even know where to start. This summer has turned out to be one of the best summers I have had in a LOOOOONG time. Since joining Brain of BMW I have gotten the opportunity to meet a lot of great people and listen to a lot of great music. If you know me…you know that I am a HUGE fan of  local rap group “The 58’s” so I got to see them live again at Timebomb “Return Of  The Boom Bap (Showcase Vol. 1)” this past Thursday along side Boaz and Varsity Squad who are also from the 412. And the weekend before that, I got to see APEX(my newest favorite group out of Pittsburg), The Sole Vibe and Varsity Squad tear it down at the “Fresh Out The Booth” event…in which I had a BALL!

Kid Cudi and Wiz Khalifa concerts are coming up in August…so I’m still trying to figure out how I can get tickets for each show.

But the really really REALLY big news is……I GOT THE JOB!!! \(^_^)/

I now have officially joined the ranks of the employed, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Yesterday was officially my first day, not much to talk about because it was mostly just paper work. This job is in the banking and financing field just like my last job, but a lot less of direct customer contact. I think I’m a like it, and another the plus is that the work atmosphere seems to be really nice. So now that hurdle is FINALLY crossed I am now on the hunt for a part-time…YES I want a part-time ASAP!

Let’s see what else is new…since I had to cancel my trip to MIA…I’m hoping to make a trip to a beach a lil closer to home like in New Jersey or Virginia. My love life is still nonexistent, but there is a guy that has caught my eye. But I realized that I was doing too much and that maybe I should just accept it for what it is…but that’s a whole other post. But he’s cute and I like his lips…as well as a few other body parts LOL! So I’m a just go with the flow and see what happens.

As of right now I couldn’t be any happier. Everything over at Brain of BMW is going smoothly, I am learning so much about who I am as a writer and I have gained so much experience from working with the site it’s crazy and I’m looking forward to continuing to do so. This summer has been great so far, and its kind of sad to think that it’s almost over, but if the next two seasons are as good as this one…I think I’m a be one happy girl.

So yeah, I need to hit the sack…TTYL!!!

It’s Me…

So I was on Tumblr like an hour ago, and I came across the trailer for Pac Div upcoming web series…and guess what…I’M IN IT. Lol…I was pleasantly surprise. Yes it’s only for a sec but still, plus if you know me you know that I’m a HUGE Pac Div fan so yes I’m kind og GEEKED! Pac Div: The Series is a web series chronicling the life of group members Like, BeYoung and Mibbs as they set out to release their debut album “Grown Kids Syndrome”. I’m at the 1:08-1:09 mark.

Also that’s my shirt that they are signing 🙂

30 Day Challenge…Question #5 and #6 (Updated 8/24/2011)

#5: Things You Want To Say To An Ex

*EDIT 8/24/2011*

Dear Nate,

I love you dearly, and I know you still have love for as well. We’re a train wreck tho…don’t you get tired of the constant bickering and fighting? I know I do! I just wish things could be better between us, you know I would love nothing more then to carry your last name and be with just you for the rest of my life…but at the same time I’m slowly killing myself worrying about if you feel the same. You are the only man that has been a constant in my adult life, but unfortunately that hasn’t always been a good thing, and as of lately the lows have been out weighing the bad. I miss the old us…the us that actually liked each other…before the love and other people got in the way! I wish we could go back to watching movies and eating pizza…I wish we could go back to sharing bacon cheddar fries with each other…I wish we could go back to comic book store visits and you licking me on my face. I miss that…I miss my friend…I miss you!

#6:Your Views on Mainstream Music

I couldn’t even tell you what new songs are even out right now…unless its local music. Since the begging of the year I have stopped listening to the radio and just been jammin to local artist from right here in Pittsburgh. Yes I know Wiz & Mac are quickly becoming mainstream artist…but I still consider them local kats lol!
