Good Morning Yinz Guys, BLOOP BLOOP BLOOP…I hope you guys are already having a productive morning, cause I sure am. We’re grinding through yet another work week, so for me, that means another week of dressing up in business casual attire, and sometimes wearing dress shoes that can be little problematic for my feet. As I’ve mentioned a few times before on my blog, I suffer from what is called Rheumatoid Arthritis, so that means I sometimes experience knee and foot pains when wearing anything that isn’t a sneaker when I’m outside, inside I’m barefoot or wearing my favorite Duke University slippers. So for me, my works business casual dress/dress shoe attire requirements can sometimes cause an issue, even flats can be a problem. Thankfully I was given the chance to review Sole Patches in partnership with BrandBacker, and the opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time. This year I wanted to step up my dress game at work so that would mean not just wearing ugly but comfortable flats. Continue reading “Sole Patches Review…”
Hey Yinz Guys & Happy Friday…and if you’re one of the lucky ones Happy Pay Day too! And YESSSS I am MAD late posting this…but today was the start of my 4 day weekend and I totally got up really late and forgot to schedule this post. So anywho…I’m coming to you with my 2nd week of #FridayFavorites where I plug some of my favorite things from the week. I kept to 7 items this time lol, but I hope you still enjoy this post. So here we go…
- CRWN Magazine ~ A couple days ago I finally got my hand on CRWN Magazine Volume 01/Issue 01 with natural hair YouTube guru Naptural85(Whitney White) on the cover. And I am already in LOOOOVE with this magazine. I haven’t been able to actually sit down and get all into it, but the photos alone have already captured my heart. I can’t wait for the second issue.
- H&M Poncho ~ I picked up this awesome poncho from Buffalo Exchange on the South Side back in February. Because Pittsburgh weather is unpredictable this piece is great for layering under both my heavy and lite jacket as well as wearing alone with it’s not super cold but not that hot either.
- Easy Spirit Shoes ~ These shoes are great for my arthritic feet lol…you read all about them in a previous post I wrote here.
- Snappee Hair Ties ~ These hair ties make it extremely easy to put hair up in a high puff. I also haven’t had any issues with them pulling on my edges as well like I have experienced with other hair ties and scrunchies.
- Aboni Cosmetics ~ The 1st time I came across this brand it was when it was shared on a beauty blogger I follow on IG page. She was wearing the color Frenchie and I just had to have it. I also purchased Kiss & Tell and Daydream as well. I can’t wait to try out all 3 of these colors. And when I do I’ll make sure to post them on my IG.
- Humble by Kendrick Lamar ~ Does this really need an explanation?
- Hey, Girl by Alex Elle ~ I am such a fan of Alex Elle, from when she used to create and sell her own jewelry to now a 3-time author to self-care expert and now Podcaster. I like to listen to her podcast Hey Girl when I’m taking pictures or writing for my blog because it’s just really calming and uplifting. I have been getting back into listening to podcast regularly again, and this is up there with my top 3 favorites.
Well, that’s it for this week. I hope you guys enjoyed this week’s favorites. I’ll return next week with a new list of things I’m favoring for that week, so make sure you check back in. You can also check out my favorites from last week here. Also in the comment section below, I would love to hear about your #FridayFavorites too. And like always, thank you so much for checking out my blog. I hope you have an awesome weekend.
Peace Yinz Guys
Hey Yinz Guys, and Happy New Year, can you believe it we FINALLY made it to 2017. And if your 2016 was anything like mine, this is definitely a welcome change. I have so much planned for this year when it comes to my blogging and writing. But before I can get into that I have a few beauty reviews I have to get up on the blog. So 1st up is my evian® post.
Good Afternoon Yinz Guys & Happy Monday. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to think of different post ideas that I could bring to my blog. One of my blogging goals for 2017 is to come up with a regular posting schedule, so I was thinking Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as my main posting days. But I also wanted to have different themed posts as well. That’s when “Hashtag Mondays” popped up in my head, literally I was showering yesterday and the idea of having a hashtagged themed monday dealing with things like Makeup, Motivation and Music. So as I was coming up with what my first post would be on, I was watching The Golden Globes and I got to see Donald Glover accept his Golden Globe award for his hit series ATLANTA under the category of Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
So like how fast did 2012 go by…like I can’t believe it’s already 2013. And next month I’ll be 28…yeah I’m not ready for that lol! But I’m super excited for this year. March I’m going to SXSW…my cousins wedding is this summer in Mexico and maybe…just maybe I’ll take my 1st trip out of the country this year as well.
Oh and did I mention new job since November! Hopefully I can stick it out here. Back to school in the summer(fingers crossed). And as far as my love life…well so far it’s the same’ol same’ol!
So here’s to 2013 being just as Fly and Bright as 2012! #DoBetter2013
So on January 24, 2012 I reached what I would call a some-what major milestone in my life. I celebrated 1 full year of having “Natural Hair”. Now I know for some that may not be a big deal…but for me it was definitely a reason to celebrate. You see for a long time I believed that only relaxed/straight hair worked for me. Every 2 weeks I was in a chair getting my hair chemically altered to be bone straight. Just the sight of my hairs natural texture could cost me to have a bad day or run and hide. I was also a fan of long straight weaves, you couldn’t tell me nothing on my 25th birthday when I had my long weave in lol!
So when I decided to do the “Big Chop” January of last year I was extremely worried about how I would be precived…even tho I had put on a front that I didn’t care what people would think…I really did, especially when it came to the opposite sex. I haven’t aways been as confident with my looks as I am now, so doing something as dramatic as cutting off my hair was either going to make or break my whole persona of how I thought looked and who I was. And luckily it was for the better…like way WAY better lol.
YES…I was 26 last year, and I know some of yinz may be thinking “Well damn…at 26 you still weren’t sure about who you were?” and the answer is…yes and no. 2011 was a really rough year for me…being unemployed and somewhat depressed had a lot to do with it…but this is not the post to discuss such things 🙂 so let’s move on…for now!
But now its one year later…my hair has grown like CRAZY and now that I have some length to it I have been trying all types of styles. I’m so proud of myself, so proud that I took a chance and stepped out of my own comfort zone and decided to make a change and try something new.
GO ME…GO ME!
Last week I was on vacation…and Lord knows it was needed. I spent most of my time in my second home Philly, a day in Jersey and then a few hours for what was my first trip to NYC!
I had an amazing time with my sister. As of lately it’s been ruff not having her around 24/7 so being able to spend a whole 7 days with her was greatly appreciated. We wanted to make it to DC as well, but we stayed in Jersey a lil longer then expected so we had to choose between DC or NYC…and NYC won!
While in Philly my sister took me to this great place called Frankford Hall that’s was located in Fishtown. It’s like you’re outside, but you’re inside too lol! They had A bunch of different beers there, I’m not a huge beer drinker but they had a beer called Franzisker Dunkel-Weisse that I thought was pretty good. Their burgers were big, juicy and delicious…so delicious that I forgot to take a picture of it lol! And they had carrot cake and German chocolate cupcakes as their specialty dessert that day. I got the German chocolate cupcake….it was like biting into a lil piece of chocolate heaven!
So then on Thursday, me Candace(sister) made our way to Jersey to see one of her best friends Lyndsie. It was my first time there and her house and neighborhood was beautiful! While in Jersey I got to enjoy my first Jacuzzi, and I must say when it comes time for me to buy a house I would defiantly be installing one of my own. It felt sooooooooooooooooo good!
So on Saturday I made my first visit to NYC, it was extremely short and sweet! My friend Rudy came and took me and my sister around to a few spots! We went to bar called Macondo and a pizza shop called Artichoke. The pizza there was amazing, not how like I normally like my pizza….but for a picky eater like me it was pretty damn good. Only bad think about the trip was that I didn’t take any pictures, I was to busy looking up and around at everything that I forgot to take pictures. Well I did get one picture of the Empire State building lol! I had a great time there and I def want to go back, but next time stay for like a week.
Last week made for a great vacation, but I’m excited to be back home. I def missed my Virginia =^_^=
It’s 4:13am and I’m up cause I can’t sleep So while while browsing my twitter TL I realized as of yesterday 8/24/2011 I have been rocking my natural hair for 7 months! So I just thought I would share this photo update from 1/24/2011 the day that I did the BIG CHOP and the photo I took yesterday with was exactly 7 months!
SN: Being able to blog from my iPhone brings me joy!
Since I got my iPhone back in March I have been using it as my everyday camera instaed of the new one I just bought last year lol. With all the great photo apps that the app store has to offer, I don’t plan on going back to my regular camera unless its like an important event. So I just thought I would post some of my most rescent photos I have on my iPhone. My top 2 favorite photo apps are Intagram and Diptic. I guess you can call me an iPhonegrapher now lol…Enjoy!
A few weeks ago I visited what has become my second home for the past 5 years…Philadelphia Pa. I never thought that I would fall in love with a city as much as I have with the City of Brotherly Love. Growing up I never had any desire to really come visit Philly… it was always New York, Miami, LA and Greensboro, NC(parts of my dad’s side of the family live there…I LOVE IT THERE) were always my places of choice. But after my little sister got accepted to Temple University in 2005, I have found myself there at least every couple of months! She is now an official Temple Alumni, and her days in the city are now numbered. She will be moving soon, and that means my days of free room and board may be numbered as well 😦
Believe it or not, with the amount of time I have spent in Philly…I had yet to take an official tour of the city. One of the main attractions of Philly is the Liberty Bell, so while we we’re in Old City we decided to take a quick stop there before we went to Happy Hour!
After the Liberty Bell my sister, mother and I meet up with Martin who is my sisters best friend. With no real plan we just did some bar hopping and Krispy Kream donuts smashing…and when I say smashing…I MEAN SMASHING! MMMMMM DONUTS! *Homer Simpson voice* lol
So here’s just some of the pics from when I was in Philly!
