Good Afternoon Yinz Guys & Happy Monday. Over the past few weeks I’ve been trying to think of different post ideas that I could bring to my blog. One of my blogging goals for 2017 is to come up with a regular posting schedule, so I was thinking Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as my main posting days. But I also wanted to have different themed posts as well. That’s when “Hashtag Mondays” popped up in my head, literally I was showering yesterday and the idea of having a hashtagged themed monday dealing with things like Makeup, Motivation and Music. So as I was coming up with what my first post would be on, I was watching The Golden Globes and I got to see Donald Glover accept his Golden Globe award for his hit series ATLANTA under the category of Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy.
I have been listening to Frank Ocean‘s “Thinking About You” on repeat for the last few days. The visual came out some time ago and I had been meaning to post it on here. A lot of people say that the video is strange…I happen to think it makes perfect sence. What do you think about the music video.
Also here’s a fun little fact, the song was actually written for a singer by the name of Bridget Kelly, you can find her version here! I personally like the Frank Ocean version, but I’m extremely excited to here that a vocalist like Bridget Kelly is in the studio recording for what I hope is to be an upcoming LP…how do you feel about her version?
Hey Yinz Guys!!! It’s been a min since I’ve done a #HYLC update!
So much to blog about, I don’t even know where to start. This summer has turned out to be one of the best summers I have had in a LOOOOONG time. Since joining Brain of BMW I have gotten the opportunity to meet a lot of great people and listen to a lot of great music. If you know me…you know that I am a HUGE fan of local rap group “The 58’s” so I got to see them live again at Timebomb “Return Of The Boom Bap (Showcase Vol. 1)” this past Thursday along side Boaz and Varsity Squad who are also from the 412. And the weekend before that, I got to see APEX(my newest favorite group out of Pittsburg), The Sole Vibe and Varsity Squad tear it down at the “Fresh Out The Booth” event…in which I had a BALL!
Kid Cudi and Wiz Khalifa concerts are coming up in August…so I’m still trying to figure out how I can get tickets for each show.
But the really really REALLY big news is……I GOT THE JOB!!! \(^_^)/
I now have officially joined the ranks of the employed, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Yesterday was officially my first day, not much to talk about because it was mostly just paper work. This job is in the banking and financing field just like my last job, but a lot less of direct customer contact. I think I’m a like it, and another the plus is that the work atmosphere seems to be really nice. So now that hurdle is FINALLY crossed I am now on the hunt for a part-time…YES I want a part-time ASAP!
Let’s see what else is new…since I had to cancel my trip to MIA…I’m hoping to make a trip to a beach a lil closer to home like in New Jersey or Virginia. My love life is still nonexistent, but there is a guy that has caught my eye. But I realized that I was doing too much and that maybe I should just accept it for what it is…but that’s a whole other post. But he’s cute and I like his lips…as well as a few other body parts LOL! So I’m a just go with the flow and see what happens.
As of right now I couldn’t be any happier. Everything over at Brain of BMW is going smoothly, I am learning so much about who I am as a writer and I have gained so much experience from working with the site it’s crazy and I’m looking forward to continuing to do so. This summer has been great so far, and its kind of sad to think that it’s almost over, but if the next two seasons are as good as this one…I think I’m a be one happy girl.
If you’re one of my neighbors and you also happen to be a reader “I’m Sorry” that you have had to hear this song full blast for like over a month now. If you follow me on twitter you would know that I am a huge supporter…fan…whatever you want to call it of Pittsburghs own The 58’s, and that I’m alway quoting lyrics from their self-titled mixtape that was released a few months ago. I’ve also mentioned them quite a few times on here as well.
They continue to feed my horrible habit of listening to things at an extreme volume by releasing the visuals for one of my favorite tracks on the mixtape, B.White “The Realness”. So I just thought I would share with my readers who may not be familiar with the group which is made of 6 dope MC’s on their own…I really can’t say enough dope things about them. HOPE YOU ENJOY!
And if you like what you’re seeing you can download the mixtape HERE
So I know I have been doing A LOT of bloggig about my hair, and I said that I wasn’t going to bore anyone with hair talk for a while. But this past week I was in Philly visiting with my little sister and she was telling me that she was starting to feel unhappy with her hair. She was saying that she sometimes feels like she’s not as pretty or whatever as a lot of the girls she works with, because most of the girls she works with have long flowing hair weaves. Now if you know my sister, you know that this is just a phase…cause my sister is one of the most beautiful girls I know…and she knows it too. But just like most women, we go through a “I’m Ugly” moment.
Last Thursday my friend @missbrandii tweeted me a YouTube link and then today while I was blog suffering I came across a new blog called Black Girl In Russia, where she discusses going to school abroad and living in Russia while maintaining her natural hair. That’s where I came across a music video by Dead Prez called “The Beauty Within”. So I’m mainly doing this post to cheer up my sister, but it also was a little boost for me too. So I thought I would share it…and maybe it could be a boost for you as well!!!
I’m a couple hours late with my YouTube Tuesday post, but this song…so me right now. I finally got around to purchasing his MOTM Vol 2. Which is fitting because I became a Kid Cudi fan super late from the start. But yeah, this is just ME…I’m feeling like a ghost right now…REAL TALK.
Hey Yinz Guys! Yes I have been seriously slacking on my blogging…at least here on my personal blog. A lot of things have happened since my last #HYLC post back in early March. Some bad…like I still have yet to find a regular 9-5 *womp womp*, but a lot of GOOD! Back in March, I wrote briefly about how I was asked by a friend of mine if I would like to join his new and upcoming online magazine that he was just starting up. I was thrilled that he would ask me, he said that he enjoyed my blog here and would be happy if I joined his team.
That really meant a lot to me, to know that someone likes my stuff enough to want me to do the same for them was very flattering. The site is called Brain of BMW, it’s fairly new but it’s starting to get a lot of recognition not only here in Pittsburgh, but also outside of the city. So far I’m just responsible for the music reviews that have been submitted to the site. I have done 4 reviews, and each time I like to think that I get a little better at it! So when you get the chance you should check out the site HERE and also follow us at @BrainofBMW on twitter.
Let’s see, what other exciting things have/or will be happening….OH! I went to my 2nd Big K.R.I.T. concert last week on Monday which also included The 58’s who opened for him. The 58’s just dropped their newest mix tape last month and I can’t say enough dope shit about them. They are also one of the many talented rap artist that or coming out of my city, the City of Pittsburgh. I suggest you do your ears a great favor and download their newest mix tape HERE…you can thank me later! Also make sure you follow them on twitter as well!
Also I shall be in Philly soon to celebrate with my sister and the rest of my Temple University family graduation this month. I’m super excited and I shall take LOTS of pictures to share with yinz guys.
Well, that’s about it. Thanks for sticking it out with me even though I was slacking with my posting. This summer there’s going to be so much to talk about…I will literally have to make time to blog. So yeah!
Since I’ve found out about Pittsburgh rapper MyKoolB , I’ve been on the hunt for more of his music. His song “Wuddup” is so far my FAVORITE, it’s one of those feel good songs. And even though it last a little over 2 mins, it still gives you that “I’m A Make It” unstoppable feeling. And who wouldn’t want to start their morning off feeling “UNFUCKWITABLE” lol!
Also you can go HERE for his latest mixtape “I Can’t Hold It In”
SideNote: Video is directed by Brandon Dull who also hails from Pittsburgh!!!
I can honestly say that I will never get tired of this song or video. I love how the song is so uplifting, which now and days is far and few between. I love how sharp the video is, almost like you’re actually living the video…and I’m all about the bike riding.
Whenever I’m having a crappy day, are having a hard time writing I usually keep this song on repeat. And it doesn’t hurt that Tabi Bonney is an AWESOME guy. I actually won tickets back in August to see him while he was in Baltimore, but at the last min had to cancel due to an emergency. Then I missed him when he came to the Burgh, I was so sick about it, especially being that I had to work right up the street from the venue. Rumor has it that he may be back in March, if so COUNT ME IN!
So yeah, for your viewing pleasure…The ending is so CLUTCH!
ALSO…Some how, when that time comes I plan on incorporating this song into my wedding…if not the whole video…BET!
