Feel Good Friday’s: You Are More Than Your Short Comings

***Good Morning Yinz Guys! This past Monday I introduced one of the many new series I want to bring to this hear blog called “Mental Health Monday” if you haven’t read it yet you can read it here. The second series I want to introduce is what I call “Feel Good Friday’s” where I will share post that are motivational. It may be something I’ve written up myself or a quote I found. Either way, I want to use Friday’s as a way to send good vibes to Yinz Guys so we can start the weekend on a good note. I hope you enjoy.***

You are more than your shortcomings and downfalls. You are more than the negative things people have to say about you and your mistakes. You are more than Your diagnoses and your illness. You are more than your past and who you use to be. You are more than that job you hate, and you are more than the lack of money you have. You are more than your degrees or lack of degrees. You are more than your relationship status and you are more than who you have dated. Continue reading “Feel Good Friday’s: You Are More Than Your Short Comings”

Hey Yinz Guys & Happy Friday…and if you’re one of the lucky ones Happy Pay Day too! And YESSSS I am MAD late posting this…but today was the start of my 4 day weekend and I totally got up really late and forgot to schedule this post. So anywho…I’m coming to you with my 2nd week of #FridayFavorites where I plug some of my favorite things from the week. I kept to 7 items this time lol, but I hope you still enjoy this post. So here we go…

Reading Material:

  • CRWN Magazine ~ A couple days ago I finally got my hand on CRWN Magazine Volume 01/Issue 01 with natural hair YouTube guru Naptural85(Whitney White) on the cover. And I am already in LOOOOVE with this magazine. I haven’t been able to actually sit down and get all into it, but the photos alone have already captured my heart. I can’t wait for the second issue.

Fashion Items:

  • H&M Poncho ~ I picked up this awesome poncho from Buffalo Exchange on the South Side back in February. Because Pittsburgh weather is unpredictable this piece is great for layering under both my heavy and lite jacket as well as wearing alone with it’s not super cold but not that hot either.
  • Easy Spirit Shoes ~ These shoes are great for my arthritic feet lol…you read all about them in a previous post I wrote here.

Hair Accessories:

  • Snappee Hair Ties ~ These hair ties make it extremely easy to put hair up in a high puff. I also haven’t had any issues with them pulling on my edges as well like I have experienced with other hair ties and scrunchies.

  • Aboni Cosmetics ~ The 1st time I came across this brand it was when it was shared on a beauty blogger I follow on IG page. She was wearing the color Frenchie and I just had to have it. I also purchased Kiss & Tell and Daydream as well. I can’t wait to try out all 3 of these colors. And when I do I’ll make sure to post them on my IG.

  • Humble by Kendrick Lamar ~ Does this really need an explanation?

  • Hey, Girl by Alex Elle ~ I am such a fan of Alex Elle, from when she used to create and sell her own jewelry to now a 3-time author to self-care expert and now Podcaster. I like to listen to her podcast Hey Girl when I’m taking pictures or writing for my blog because it’s just really calming and uplifting. I have been getting back into listening to podcast regularly again, and this is up there with my top 3 favorites.

Well, that’s it for this week. I hope you guys enjoyed this week’s favorites. I’ll return next week with a new list of things I’m favoring for that week, so make sure you check back in. You can also check out my favorites from last week here. Also in the comment section below, I would love to hear about your #FridayFavorites too. And like always, thank you so much for checking out my blog. I hope you have an awesome weekend.

Peace Yinz Guys

May 7, 2013…

So today is finally coming to an end, and what an unexpected and fun day it was. On the whim I decided to join my sister while she went to a free journalism workshop here at our local library, I can count how many life changing experiences I have had on my one hand…and this would definitely be one of them. Today was such a defining moment for me as a writer, it was like the teacher switched on the light and in an instant any dark thoughts I ever had about me being a writer was gone. And to think I laughed at my sister for trying to sign up for all these free activities at all the libraries here in Pittsburgh, now I can’t wait to return next week and I hope it continues for the whole summer and not just the next two days that they have scheduled.

I was so touched and inspired by this workshop that I was almost brought to tears. The teacher shared so much insight into what it means to be a writer/journalist that it would take me pages upon pages to actually describe here on my blog. So I will share my favorites…

  • Get It On Paper…
  • Go with what’s in your heart…
  • Honor whatever it is that you write…

We also discuss healing in writing, but that’s just too deep for me to even get into at this moment. All I can say is that today May 7, 2012 I now know that I am supposed to be a writer, that I am to continue to tell my story and by doing so I am indeed doing what’s best for me. The even crazier part is that I was in the middle of writing a blog post discussing how I was truly ready to follow my dream…and along came this opportunity to attend a workshop that only a few minutes I had no idea my sister had signed up for. Not only did I share my writing for the first time out loud, but it was also in front of complete strangers. I don’t know, I’m just on such a natural high from this evening that I can’t wait to go back, today has been such a blessing…it was definitely something that I needed.

It’s Me…

So I was on Tumblr like an hour ago, and I came across the trailer for Pac Div upcoming web series…and guess what…I’M IN IT. Lol…I was pleasantly surprise. Yes it’s only for a sec but still, plus if you know me you know that I’m a HUGE Pac Div fan so yes I’m kind og GEEKED! Pac Div: The Series is a web series chronicling the life of group members Like, BeYoung and Mibbs as they set out to release their debut album “Grown Kids Syndrome”. I’m at the 1:08-1:09 mark.

Also that’s my shirt that they are signing 🙂

My Own Worst Enemy…

For most of my life, I have always felt like the odd one out.  I was the weird girl, the ugly friend/sister and the girl who just doesn’t belong…ANYWHERE. For years I spent most of my life apologizing for who I was/am. I never felt that I was good enough or good at anything. Now at 26, I still sometimes deal with doubt, but as I mature I’m starting to realize that it is just “SELF” doubt.

Most things that I think are horribly wrong with me are just in my head.

Spring Cleaning…

***I’m doing this post from my iPhone. I had to get this out, so if it seems rush or if there are any grammar mistakes or misspelled words…that’s why! Lol!***

Today while I’m sitting here at my juror summon…waiting for this long process to be over…I did a little thinking.

I’ve been going thru it with a couple of different personal issues. All of which have been bringing me down spiritually. I’m starting to lose my happiness…and I’m stating to forget what it’s like not to be miserable.

So today…while I sit in this court-house, I’ve decided that I’m going to get rid and let go of a lot of stuff before the summer starts. Somewhat of an emotional “Spring Cleaning”!

First thing on the agenda: Stop all communications with my ex, it’s unhealthy. And well if he won’t commit to me now after dating off and on for the past 7 years…he never will!

Second: Let go off all regret…ALL OF IT!

Third: Stop checking his Twitter…lol(more than 1 person)

Forth: Stop trying to prove a point…shit will happen on it’s on! I have this habit that when I get hurt, dumped etc…I want to show them what they’re missing by shoving all of my glory in their face. And honestly…it’ll will happen without me forcing it.

Fifth: Stop crying at night. Night time is when I do my most crying, worrying and negative thinking. STOP IT!

Sixth and final thing: Stop apologizing for who I am. I’m loud, goofy, confident and I do my own thing. I don’t follow trends and I don’t follow the masses. I’m emotional and I wear my heart on my sleeve. I’m loving and I always want to make people happy. I’m sloppy and lazy. I’m stubborn and I can sometimes be mean. I’m trustworthy and dependable. I’m a shopaholic and I suck at saving money. I’m am ALL of this and more…and I’m NOT SORRY!

*whew* So yeah, that’s it. Once again feels good to get all of this out.

So, what’s your story? How will you be “Spring Cleaning”?

Guess Who’s Team iPhone…

So yesterday my BlackBerry which was a Storm2 died…and just imagine my horror lol…I was freaking! My stepdad offered me his Droid phone but when he finally found it, it was freaking BROKE! So my next two choices were to either go without a phone until the new iPhone5 came out(which wouldn’t be until June or July) or just get the iPhone4.

So being that going without a phone for 3-4 months was NOT happening…me and my stepdad head to Verizon and picked up a new iPhone4! And so far I freaking LOVE it, I’m still trying to figure the phone out because this is my first Apple product other then my iPod which is much easier to understand.

I’ve heard that blogging on WordPress is super easy from here as well…so I’m a try it out and see how it goes. Also last night I Skype with my sister using my iPhone as well that was pretty neat too LOL(can you tell I’m easily impressed)!
